The Society was founded in 1936 and is dedicated to those who are interested in gardening and its improvement.

The Singapore Gardening Society and its sister society, the Orchid Society of South East Asia were founded by the Singapore Botanic Gardens many years ago.

The Society works hand in hand and shares the common interest of the National Parks Board and Nature Society of Singapore. We have botanists, horticulturists, gardeners and hobbyists among our members.

The Society holds monthly meetings. We organise talks on plants and gardening, and plan excursions to either public or private gardens, both local and overseas. Knowledge and skills in growing plants are shared amongst members.

Our plant sales are one of our most popular events. Discounts are granted to members by some plant nurseries and local suppliers of plant and gardening materials.
